The Glynneath Five originated in 1986. It was supposed to be the Neath Valley Race – held at Glynneath. A Five Mile road race was set up by Arthur Phillips, an experienced runner.
The race is different to other races – it encourages all types of runners – from beginners to international class runners. It is a Race and Fun Run combined.
have run on this 5 mile, undulating course – Richard Gardiner, Marc and Lewys Hobbs, Martin Rees (world class 50+ runner) who has won the race 6 times.
Absolute beginners are welcome and can win a prize – Improvers Trophies (beating last year's time). This is unique in a Road Race in South Wales.
Father and Son, Father and Daughter, Mother and Son, Mother and Daughter, Husband and Wife Trophies are part of the 100 plus extensive prize list on offer
